All arrangements of a boat and a blinker or two blocks can be made from
4 gliders, all arrangements of a tub and a block can be made from 5 gliders,
and all arrangements of two tubs can be made from 6 gliders.
There are many of these which can also be made from fewer gliders.
Since metheuselahs do not repeat, they are listed under the smallest known

one of these, the most common is shown. Also, the syntheses are of various
patterns along this sequence, not necessarily the first generation.
